Blue Parrot recipe

0.5 oz Blue Curacao Liqueur
0.5 oz Malibu® coconut rum
0.5 oz pineapple juice
Combine all ingredients, shake over ice, then strain and serve.

Woodford Reserve: One of the best values out there in bourbon. With its smooth with layered flavors, you will enjoy sipping on this all day. Great for mint juleps at your party. You can generally pick this up for around $30.

Black Maple Hill: A complex bourbon with an almost-fruity start and a nice hot finish. This bourbon will be pleasing for your guest who will want some bourbon straight as well those who want it in mint juleps. It’s about $35.

Monday, February 14 is Saint Valentine’s Day

We call it Valentine’s Day and it is an annual commemoration celebrating love and affection between intimate companions. Traditionally a day on which people express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering candy, and sending greeting cards, it can also be a great excuse for a party!

The day first became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. Consider Making your Own Liqueur!

Making liqueurs is a fun and rewarding hobby. The process used to make most liqueurs is very simple, and experienced liqueur makers can easily create their own unique recipes.

When making a liqueur, most people start with vodka because it very versatile and adds little flavor to the finished product.

Rum would also work very well. You can use other hard alcohols, such as tequila or whiskey, but they will alter the flavor of your liqueur. In order to turn the vodka (or whatever base you’re using) into a liqueur, you simply add some sort of flavoring, such as fruit or espresso, and allow the vodka to absorb the flavor. You then add a sweetener to the flavored vodka, and presto – you have a liqueur.
